The Council of Western State Foresters (CWSF) and Western Forestry Leadership Coalition (WFLC) announced the 2021 – 2022 leadership roster.

The CWSF Executive Committee includes Chair Tom Claeys (ND), Incoming Chair Jason Hartman (KS), Secretary/Treasurer David Smith (HI), and Immediate Past Chair Sonya Germann (MT).

“As we look to the year ahead, the CWSF Executive Committee will continue to focus on overseeing the organization as it implements the 2021-2024 Strategic Plan,” said Tom Claeys. “We have important work to accomplish, and I look forward to supporting the organization as Chair.” 

The WFLC Executive Board includes the above mentioned CWSF Executive Committee members, as well as USDA Forest Service Co-Lead Glenn Casamassa (USDA Forest Service Region 6), Incoming Co-Lead Frank Beum (USDA Forest Service Region 2), Research Station Director Member Dr. Cynthia West (USDA Forest Service Forest Products Laboratory/Northern Research Station), and State and Private Forestry (S&PF) Director Member Tim Garcia (USDA Forest Service Regions 1 and 4).

“The WFLC Executive Board represents a wide range of experience, expertise, and interests,” said Glenn Casamassa. “It is my pleasure to serve as the USDA Forest Service Co-Lead.” 

The CWSF Executive Committee and WFLC Executive Board participate in regularly scheduled meetings and help to guide the organizational and programmatic work of the staff. CWSF and WFLC Executive Director, Laura Schweitzer, serves as an ex officio member to the CWSF Executive Committee and WFLC Executive Board.
