Kaydyn Guelsdorf joined the Council of Western State Foresters (CWSF) and the Western Forestry Leadership Coalition (WFLC) in June 2025.
Kaydyn is a senior at the University of Oregon, majoring in Multidisciplinary Science and minoring in Science Communication. At Oregon, Kaydyn works as a Class Encore Leader tutoring chemistry students, is involved in the Pedagogical Partners program focusing on course curriculum, and served as Chapter President of Oregon’s Pi Beta Phi chapter. During her time at Oregon, Kaydyn has learned of the importance of collaboration and effective communication, as well as the need for widespread education efforts about forest and environmental science.
A native Oregonian, Kaydyn grew up adventuring throughout Oregon’s expansive forests with her family, and her grandfather worked for the USDA Forest Service. A childhood spent in forests that have faced persistent challenges has built in her a recognition of the need for strong communication about critical issues that forests face today. Kaydyn is looking forward to collaborating with the CWSF team as well as gaining skills related to forest management.
After graduation, Kaydyn plans to attend graduate school to pursue a master’s degree in Science Communication.
