2016 CWSF Annual Report

Western State Fire Managers' Annual Meeting

The Western State Fire Managers (WSFM) held their annual Spring meeting in conjunction with the Western State Business Managers meeting in South Lake Tahoe, NV, last week. Discussion centered around updating the WSFM charter, committee reviews and report-outs, and updates from partners such as NASF. WSFM also discussed the WUI process and outlined strategies to ensure a successful grant year.

National Wild Turkey Federation Conservation Meeting
 
CWSF staff along with several CWSF and Western Forestry Leadership Coalition (WFLC) members attended the 41st National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) Convention in February 2017. Staff and members engaged in the NWTF Conservation Conference: The Future of Conservation Delivery. NWTF highlighted the progress being made as part of their Save the Habitat, Save the Hunt Initiative and spoke to NWTF issue priorities. Guest speakers included the USDA Forest Service, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, the National Association of State Foresters, the American Forest Foundation and more. WFLC was a sponsor of the meeting, and WFLC Co-Chair Cal Joyner shared a brief overview of the work by the WFLC at the Conservation Awards Luncheon.
